The Rules and Format of the Online Golf Tour This Page contains the Rules for both the Regular Tourney and the Masters Tourney. It is the responsibility of each player to know and follow these rules at all times. Regular Tourney Last revised: 11/03/00 |
Introduction The Online Golf Tour is
open to Clubhouses 1) All scores will be reported directly to the OGT website. If you captain wants the scores reported to your club site, that is up to them but for the score to count, it must be recieved at our website. 2) All Regular Tourney Rounds will be played using a free for all format, meaning, any player from a team may play any player from any other team involved in the OGT. 3) Each round will consist of 50 matches. You may play 9 or 18 hole matches. Each Round lasts 11 days. All rounds start and end at Midnight EST. Then another round starts at the same time the previous one ended. When and if your team finishes their 50 matches, they are expected to play and help other clubs finish. These extra games do not count towards the clubs that finished point totals, only to the team that didn't finish totals. This rule is here to ensure all teams have an equal chance at finishing. 4) The Clubhouse that Wins the most Games for that Tourney Round, wins the Round and is the Champion for that Round. 5) Win=5 points, Loss = 1 points. There are no ties, Sudden Death will be played, beginning on the 10th hole. 6) Clubhouses who join after a Tour starts are awarded 80 points for each Tourney Round they have missed. 7) All games played by players belonging to more than 1 OGT member Clubhouse will be considered FORFEITED! Both the Clubhouses using the double Clubhousing player will be fined -20 points for each game played. It is the responsibility of Team Captains to know who their players are, and what they are doing. 8) Only 1 back-up allowed per drop. No DROPPING back onto the FAIRWAY from any lie. CHIPPING on the GREEN is forbidden unless there is fringe, fairway, sand trap, or other obstacle which obstructs the path to the hole. The Player who flagrantly abuses any of these rules will have the game FORFEITED to the other player, and his/her Clubhouse will also be fined -20 points for each game FORFEITED. 9) Any and all rules violations will be settled by OGT Director and the Clubhouse Captains of the players involved. 10) The course where each Tourney Round will be played will be posted on the Regular Tourney Lineups page on the Tuesday before the start of that Tourney Round. 11) The Regular Tourney Scoreboard will show how many POINTS have been awarded to each Clubhouse in each Tourney Round and also so far in that specific Online Golf Tour, the total number of games WON, LOST, and of course the Clubhouse's overall RANKING in the OGT. 12) If 2 or more Clubhouses Tie for the Title of OGT MS Clubhouse Champion the players whohave won the most games for their teams that round will play a 9 hole match, using match play as the format on the course for that round. 13) There is no limit as to how many times the same player can play in any one Regular Tourney Round. However, the OGT frowns upon a team using only one or 2 players to play their matches. 14) The OGT is interested in how you choose to manage your Clubhouse. We feel that for the OGT to be strong, the Clubhouses involved must also be strong. We will not tolerate Clubs that do not play their matches.
16) Scorecard will be updated daily if
possible by the OGT Directors. 18) Scores will be compared, and if there are any discrepancies that would change a Win to a Loss, and that can not be resolved within 24 hours then that game would be declared null and void. 19) Games are FORFEITED when one of the players leaves the game before it has finished with NO valid reason, and makes no effort within 30 minutes to reschedule the game for a later date. No Clubhouse can tell it's members not to play any member of a Clubhouse with which they are matched up with, even if the person in question is a pain in the butt! The OGT is an Open Tourney where any member can play any member from the other Clubhouse it is scheduled against without any Exceptions! A member of a Clubhouse whose request to play a game was denied for no valid reason can request to the OGT via their Team Captain/s that the unplayed game be FORFEITED to them! This MUST be accompanied by proof, such as a Zone Chatlog, copy/pasting of an ICQ message or a forwarded email to the OGT! FORFEITS must be requested, they are not granted automatically. 20) For a player to quit during a game, or a Clubhouse to quit during a Tourney Round is considered very unsportsman like behavior, and it would be greatly appreciated that if a player/Clubhouse must quit they do so at the end of the game or Tourney Round! PLEASE!!:-) 21) In case of a dropped game: Match Play: Resume at the 1st or 10th hole (whichever was closer to the point that the game was dropped). and do not skip over any holes. If more holes past 18 are required, start on hole 1. (e.g. if dropped on 8th, start on 10, count 10th hole as the 8th, if more holes are necessary, finish up the match beginning on hole 1). Stroke Play: You must continue where you left off. (e.g. if dropped on 8th, replay 1 through 7, not counting holes that were already played and continue match on #8). 22) OGT members who wish to submit a requested change to the Rules, and Format of the OGT can do so in the form of an E-mail to the OGT via their Clubhouse Captain. Whether these requested changes are accepted or rejected would then be be decided upon by the Director of the OGT after he had first consulted with all the Team Captains of OGT member Clubhouses. 23) Each Tour last 6 rounds. The Clubhouse with the most Points WINS the TOUR, and is awarded the Title of OGT MS CLUBHOUSE GRAND CHAMPION, a title it holds until the end of the next Tour. 24) As of immediately, All Full Power drives and CF/SP (LTD) shots are banned. This will be strictly enforced. For clarification, you may use a full power shot from anywhere EXCEPT the tee. Penalty for Full Power shots 1st offence - Severe Warning Subsequent offences (Match Play) - Forfeiture of Hole (At discretion of opponent) Subsequent offences (Stroke Play) - 2 stroke Penalty (At discretion of opponent) A penalty may not be awarded unless a warning has been previously given. Penalty for CF/SP (LTD) shots - At Discretion of Opponent: Match Play: Forfeiture of Hole 1st Offence - Stroke Play: 2 stroke Penalty Subsequent offences - Stroke Play - 5 Stroke Penalty |
